HTPA Internal Assessments
Hellen Tolcher's Performance Academy offers internal assessments for dance, singing and acting. We believe it is important to give our students the option to work towards something and face inspiring challenges.
Miss Hellen and Mr Luke will make a panel of assessors to give an exam or audition like feel; giving lots of experience to the students who wish to take their training further.
You may be thinking “how will a singing teacher assess a dance or drama student?” for example. This is a very valid question! Although our teachers all specialise in different fields, they have all studied or practiced in Musical Theatre which includes dance, singing and acting. Every teacher at HTPA has lots of experience in performance as well as their own speciality.
Students will be assessed on their technique, knowledge and confidence in the material provided, as well as their performance skills. The panel member who teaches the field in which is being assessed will be in charge of marking technique and knowledge / confidence in material. They will look over all of the notes and have the final say in the students results. The other panel members will assess the students performance skills and assist the leading assessor.
Students will be awarded either a BRONZE (35-64%), SILVER(65-79%), GOLD(80-89%) or PLATINUM (90-100%) certificate.
Our Acting and Singing assessment material will be assigned by our very own teachers - this means that the syllabus our students receive will be well suited to them.
Our Dance assessments will be based on the Royal Academy of Dance - Ballet and Imperial Society Of Teachers Of Dancing - Tap Syllabus’s. Although our assessments present internal awards; this means that the training provided and material shown in assessments will be from the RAD and ISTD Syllabus’s.
Please know that although our assessments are not compulsory, we strongly encourage students to take part.
